PHRFNE is bringing back the PHRFNE Championship Regatta. It is hosted by the Boston Yacht Club on Friday June 12th and Saturday June 13th.

In the 1980's I worked for Sailboats Northeast and we sold mostly new boats. In the late 1980's going into the 1900's the new boat market collapsed due to the banking crisis and a federal luxury tax on yachts.

ovid eliminated this show in 2021. In 2022 and 2023 the show came back but smaller than it had been. The venue was also reduced from a 9 day show to a 5 day show. ( Thank God) I did not do the show during those years. In general I'm not a big boat show guy and I look at it as a necessary evil. 2024 I returned to the show.

Is yacht racing declining? What would be a good gauge? Most people I know would say yes because regatta numbers are down. If you are used to doing a regatta where 30 boats used to show up and now there are 15 or less that would be a good gauge. Take the Boston yacht Club Wednesday night racing for example. In the mid 1980s it was not unusual to get 50 to 60 boats. Now it's more like 20 to 25.
