The simplest way to get ride of your fine yacht is to donate it. Other than wanting to contribute to a cause or some institution that you think has great value, why would anyone want to donate their boat when they can just sell it. There is a lot of miss information about donations and there are a bunch of guys in jail who used donation programs as a scam. The IRS laws are not exact about what donation is and their interpretation of the process changes from time to time which can make the process challenging.

Fall has just begun here in New England and us yachts brokers turn our thoughts to boat shows. I just completed my 30th Newport Boat Show. Like all shows the weather has a lot to do with the attendance, however I"™m not sure it affects to number of boats sold, since that is what I care about. I"™m really looking for only 1 or 2 quality real buyers.

It did not take me long to realize that the more you know about the weather, the more it helps your sailing skills. I grew up sailing on Narragansett Bay and now spend most of my time sailing/racing in the Marblehead area. Marblehead is a great place to sail because not only is it a beautiful area, there is a predictable sea breeze that fills in around noontime everyday in the summer. This sea breeze makes for very exciting sailing.

Eight years ago I got a call from Ben Sherwood. Ben said he was writing a book that takes place in Marblehead and has a lot of sailing in it. Ben has a lot of writing experience; he had just finished a book called The Man Who Ate The 747.

Last night I did my first Wednesday night race of the 2010 season. It was cold and gray but fortunately we did not get rained on. I forgot my sailing gear, which made it a lot more uncomfortable than it should have been.
