Bump Wilcox Completes First Year with SABRE 386
November 14, 2005

Bump Wilcox recently completed his first season racing and cruising his performance optimized 2005 SABRE 386, "IT'S ALL ABOUT ME". He says he enjoyed both aspects of Jim Taylor's most recent SABRE design.

The racing included three Wednesday night series of six to seven races each in Marblehead. The boat finished first in the spring, second in the summer, and third in the fall, for an overall 2005 season finish of second place. Bump raced in a total of 12 individual night races, and had five first place finishes.

In the highly competitive PHRF-New England Championships regatta in August, "IT'S ALL ABOUT ME" finshed fourth in class, including a first in the final race. For a luxury performance cruising sailboat, she performed above all expectations, and definitely turned a lot of heads in the Marblehead raceing scene.

Immeditely prior to the boat's appearance in the aforementioned regatta, the boat was cruised in the waters of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket for two weeks. Bump, his wife Kim, and his 7-month-old golden retriever Brady had a fantastic time. This time the SABRE 386 turned heads because she looked great and was such a comfortable cruising yacht. On the way back to Marblehead the crew experienced three major thunderstorms with heavy rain and very high winds. "IT'S ALL ABOUT ME" took all the weather in stride and made the voyage from Nantucket to Marblehead in just eleven hours.
